New York Times columnist Frank Bruni is expressing alarm that special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into the Russian meddling---which has evolved into many other investigative adventures for Mueller and the Left---could actually be helping President Donald Trump.
Imagine helping a conservative sitting U.S. president.
Jacob and his coat of many colors come to mind.
But first. Business Insider reported late yesterday afternoon that the NFL, in their words, "has caved to President Trump" and approved a new policy for the upcoming football season that requires all players to stand during the National Anthem or face punishment.
Within minutes of the announcement, Vice President Pence tweeted a one-word response: "#Winning"
Bruni writes, "Robert Mueller, You're Scaring Me".
He says, "Imagine for a moment that Robert Mueller was never pressed into service as a special counsel and wasn't a household name. Imagine that there had never been any prompt for his investigation---that Donald Trump hadn't blown all those kisses at Vladimir Putin...What would we be focusing on right now?"
He then jumps into the deep end of his imaginary pool, listing what could have been.
Instead of this increasingly "scary" revelation that is unfolding before the nation and the world, that the Obama administration actually was "spying" on Trump, the Left, who seek to destroy the man's presidency, could be focusing on more important matters.
Like? Well, Politico says Trump's cellphone is not as secure as it should be...Although that concern never existed with Hillary's cellphone.
And, Bruni says the Left could be attacking Trump's head of the EPA, Scott Pruitt, who isn't nearly as warm to the claims of global warming as Obama's far Left, including Bruni, want him to be.
Or, the Left could be focusing on "what Trump is doing to the judiciary, by which I mean stacking it, and important government agencies" with conservatives.
And Bruni refers to the New Yorker Magazine that this month accused Trump's head of the Interior Department, Ryan Zinke, of being incompetent--- whom they say is "purging the department of important public servants"---who of course were trying to stop Trump's agenda.
The New Yorker describes the Interior Department as "operating with less maturity and mission than a kindergarten class on the cusp of recess."
Bruni's imaginary dream goes on and on with more imaginary "what if's."
Then he writes "why" he is scared. And "why" he is imagining.
He writes, "A CBS News poll several weeks ago showed that fewer Americans believed Mueller's investigation to be legitimate (44%) than to be politically driven (53%)."
He's right. And since that CBS poll, even more Americans have come to agree in the last few days.
The changing sentiments of the American people are reflected in a survey by Reuters News Service that found this week that "The Republicans have taken a 6 point lead over the Democrats on the generic tracking Reuters Poll." Republicans are at 40.7% while Democrats have slipped down to 34%.
Frank Bruni is in denial. Much like singer John Lennon was when he wrote the hit song "Imagine."
It's a beautiful tune, but the lyrics reveal a secular progressive man who is scared of the future because he rejects the God who is in control of it all.
You remember Lennon's words..."Imagine there's no heaven, It's easy if you try; No hell below us, Above us only sky, Imagine all the people living for today...Imagine there's no countries, It isn't hard to do, Nothing to kill or die for, And no religion too. You may say I'm a dreamer, But I'm not the only one, I hope someday you'll join us And the world will be as one."
There's more, but you get it.
Bruni's fears are legitimate. President Trump is doing much of what Bruni fears.
He is replacing the globalism agenda with an American exceptionalism agenda.
He spoke at the pro-life Susan B. Anthony gala this past Tuesday night (and other pro-life events) pledging his continued and increasing support for the pro-life movement. And a commitment to defund Planned Parenthood, the biggest abortion operation in the world.
He is an outspoken, active advocate for religious freedom...a.k.a. freedom to be a public Christian.
He, and his appointee Zinke are reviewing just how much land the government should own and control. And how many employees the public should realistically be paying to work at the bureau.
He, and his appointee Pruitt are separating truth from fiction regarding the global warming/climate change industry.
He is taking swift economic actions already resulting in declining unemployment--record-setting decline among Hispanics and Blacks---causing the stock market to set all-time records. And causing American, and other companies, to return their manufacturing operations to America.
And he is "stacking" the judicial system with as many constitutional judges as possible.
The primary elections are also sending a very clear---not imaginary, message.
One News Now reported yesterday that Democrats will be facing "conservatives, not moderates in the November elections."
And according to Reuters News Service, "The Republicans have taken a 6 point lead over Democrats on the generic ballot as of the week ending May 20.
Mueller, and his like-minded colleagues, may have meant this whole Russia thing for mischief and most Americans now believe they did, but according to Trump's enemies, it is producing what Trump promised the American people during the campaign, and what the socialist-leaning far Left never dreamed of when they began trying to get rid of him.
While Mueller and the Obama people are trying to destroy his presidency, the public, even some on the Left, are seeing the hypocrisy and at least taking pause.
Bruni's right. Mueller's attack seems to be actually helping Trump and his agenda that the American people voted for last November.
Consider This.
The coat of many colors that Joseph received from his father was overshadowed by the envy of his older brothers.
But when Joseph shared his dream with the family even the father questioned it, while the brother's dislike for him grew.
The second dream was too much, it enraged the brothers and caused them to get rid of him. Except they didn't get rid of him...you know the story. It 's included in several chapters in Genesis.
Max Lucado writes, "Basically, while the brothers meant harm to Joseph by selling him into slavery, they had put him into a position where he was able to save their entire nation. Joseph is recorded in Genesis 50:20 as saying to his brothers, 'You meant evil against me, but God used it for good'."
God does not "cause evil" but uses it to bring about His purposes, causing all things to work together for good...according to His purposes.
