Virginia "Blackface" Governor "Gosnell": Illusive Face of Secular Progressivism

Virginia's Democratic Governor Ralph Northam, a pediatric physician, has given America a snapshot of what the face of secular progressivism looks like.

Northam took center stage last week when he calmly explained how a post-birth "abortion" isn't actually infanticide.

Then, Friday brought us act II: A yearbook emerged of Ralph in blackface with his arm around someone in a KKK garb.

He first apologized for his foolish act, then reflected, then denied it was him. And refused to resign as Virginia's top public servant.

The face of progressivism is elusive. And deceptive.

The Heritage Foundation published an excellent article for all those who feel this and other abortion issues are "insignificant."

Act One

Last week, following New York's passage of a bill allowing babies to be aborted until about the moment before birth, America became aware that Virginia Democrat Kathy Tran was sponsoring a bill in her state that would allow a woman to "abort" a baby while giving birth.

When asked in the hearing if a woman about to give birth and dilating could still request an abortion, Tran said: "Yes, my bill would allow that."

Local outrage followed from pro-life Republicans, conservatives and biblical Christians. Which led to WTOP radio, a dominant news/talk radio station in the Virginia-Washington DC area, to interview Tran---and Virginia's Governor Northam.

Governor Northam, a former pediatric neurologist and "progressive" Democrat, told WTOP he couldn't speak for Tran, but with the reassuring voice of a physician, said, "I can tell you exactly what would happen."

He said,
"The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that's what the mother and family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother."

What would the "discussion" involve?

He cleared that up as well.

He explained it would be about "consent"..."the consent of obviously the mother, with consent of the physician, multiple physicians by the way, and it's done in cases where there may be severe deformities or there may be a fetus that's not viable."

Even his explanation was misleading. Tran's bill would reduce the number of doctors involved from three to one, it would also delete the requirement that doctors determine that continuing a pregnancy would "substantially and irremediably" impair a woman's health. Doctors would only have to certify that the woman's health was impaired. In other words---abortion on demand for most any reason.

Except this isn't abortion.

It's infanticide.

When passively questioned by the press, the Governor doubled down on his support for the bill and explained that no woman should have to deal with bureaucratic burdens women faced when dealing with difficult decisions involving late-term abortions.

While pro-life people were stunned and outraged, the press and leaders of the so-called "progressive" Democratic Party were generally silent---because they agree with the notion that a woman has the "right" to kill her unwanted baby---even if it's after the birth.

Not a single Democratic leader spoke out about the infanticide issue. In fact, most applauded the governor and Ms. Tran.

The governor, masked as a hero for women's rights, more resembled Dr. Gosnell of assembly line abortion fame---the now imprisoned doctor who didn't even have time to take off his surgical gloves while eating a sandwich---or wait for the aborted baby to die before throwing the child into the garbage bin.

The Left generally treated this tragedy as "insignificant." The Heritage Foundation published an excellent article for those who feel this and other abortion issues are not important.

Heritage concludes with this:

Americans might recall years ago that the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals launched a program to create “no kill” cities. In San Francisco, for example, they announced that “no adoptable animal with a treatable disease will be euthanized” and that they would “pay for medical care for an animal with a long-term health problem after it is adopted.”
Milwaukee, St. Louis, and New York joined San Francisco in becoming “no kill” cities.
Now if we could only expand that compassionate vision to include human babies.

Act Two.

Before the applause died down from act one---and the Governor was still center stage--- a page from his college yearbook appeared.

Associated Press published the initial story, including a picture of the yearbook page with the good doctor's-- turned governor's-- name on the page.

The Left's rising star who had so professionally explained how infanticide was nothing we should be concerned about-- to his colleague's silent applause-- is now seen in "blackface" with his arm around someone in KKK garb.

Outrage from the Left.

Last Friday evening, Northam admitted that he was in the photo, calling it "clearly racist and offensive."

After a few hours of what he is calling "reflection", he walked back his apology.

While his mask was slipping he then said:
"I stand by my statement of apology to the many Virginians who were hurt by seeing the content on a yearbook page that belongs to me. It was disgusting, it was offensive, it is racist, and it was my responsibility to recognize and prevent it from being published in the first place."

Does he mean the evil of what he did was allowing others to see it?

Later in the press conference, he admitted he "once darkened his face" to dress up as Michael Jackson at a dance contest in 1984.

He has since said, "I believe that I am not either of the people in that photo."

As of last night, he was saying he will not resign., although a growing chorus of Democrats are calling for him to do so.

Hillary says "this has gone on too long. There is nothing to debate. He must resign." Both Virginia's senators have called on him to resign.

By the time you read this, he may have changed his mind---again and resigned.

What cannot and should not be lost on this is the fact that our country is slipping down a destructive moral slippery slope by aborting our unwanted babies.

It's barbaric. Now so-called "progressives" are applauding post-birth abortion as "progress" when it's nothing more than infanticide.

Murder.

Left unchecked, secular progressivism will destroy our culture.

Today, on our live radio program, I'll be talking about how secular progressivism will destroy our culture if Christians and conservatives do not prevail.
