The Secular Coalition for America has announced they are "proud to have had a productive meeting with the White House...this past Friday."
In the meeting, which they hope is the first of many, they highlighted their priorities for America.
Calling the meeting "historic," the Secular Coalition announced that the Biden White House is "open to embracing pluralism, diversity of thought, and the secular community...and engaging with organizations representing non-religious organizations."
The "Coalition consists of American Humanist Association, American Atheists, Center for Inquiry, Ex-Muslims of North America, the Freedom From Religion Foundation, the Secular Student Alliance, and others.
Be informed.
Yes, America has traditionally provided protection for liberty and freedom for all religious beliefs, including atheists who have only recently begun including themselves in the "religious" category as "non-religious."
And yes, America must continue to protect that First Amendment right.
However, given this administration's propensity to openly oppose biblical Christianity---pushing the LGBTQ+ and abortion agenda among other anti-biblical agendas, it's important that biblical Christians be aware of what the Biden Administration is up to with this "historic" embrace.
The coalition is "proud" to have had a "productive meeting" with the administration.
In their press release, they say, "The Secular Coalition for America is proud to have had a productive meeting with the White House of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships."
Several months ago this coalition of humanists and atheists sent a list of priorities to the White House titled, "Secular Agenda for the Biden-Harris Administration," outlining their vision for America.
At least 18 atheist and like-minded organizations had signed on to what they called their "blueprint" for America.
The Coalition said their purpose in announcing their "blueprint" is so "Congress and the new administration will have a better understanding of what our very large and quickly growing constituency expects of them."
Apparently, the administration understands perfectly their agenda and expectations---"historically" so.
Atheist priorities for our country.
Although the list of expectations is fairly long, the priorities are direct. And they are not about religious freedom.
In fact, the coalition says it wants to build support to repeal the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. This, you may recall, is a 1993 bipartisan law that prevents the government from "substantially burdening a person's exercise of religion." Democrat President Clinton signed it after it passed unanimously in the House. The Senate passed it 97-3.
Now, these folks want it repealed.
And they know they are meeting with an administration that very well may be sympathetic. They are not seeking "freedom" of anything---certainly not religion, rather they are seeking to silence those who hold different beliefs than their own. Particularly authentic religious beliefs.
The coalition is asking Biden to reverse or modify about 30 executive orders, regulations, or rules the Trump administration adopted to protect religious liberty.
The "blueprint" is also calling for Congress to "have a secular Congressional invocation" and to "remove mandating swearing to God in all congressional oaths."
They are asking Biden and his people to "champion" 11 specific bills in Congress. They include:
- Do No Harm Act, which they claim would curb religious exemptions under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.
- Women's Health Protection Act, which would prohibit state and local governments from passing pro-life laws.
- EACH Woman Act, which would require taxpayer funding for abortion in public health insurance plans.
- Each Child Deserves a Family Act, which would prohibit discrimination in foster care and adoption on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.
- Equality Act, which would amend federal laws to prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in public accommodations and facilities, education, federal funding, employment, and housing.
They also support a growing demand from the LGBTQ activists for the Biden administration to strip accreditation of Christian schools and colleges.
The "blueprint" concludes:
"Representing 18 national secular organizations, hundreds of local secular communities, and working with our allies in the faith community, we combine the power of grassroots activism with professional lobbying to make an impact on the laws and policies that govern separation of religion and government---or the improper encroachment of either on the other."
The takeaway.
Melissa Rogers, the executive director of Biden's Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, said "We are grateful to hear from diverse Americans and to explore opportunities to work together to serve people in need."
People in need?
Their "need" is to eradicate Christianity from any public expression in a country founded on the very principles and values they oppose.
The bottom line is that they want everybody to operate exclusively on secular terms. They are not seeking "freedom" or "liberty" for themselves or anyone else. They merely seek to silence those who actually do have religious faith.
And they want to shut down any social agency---like adoption agencies whose religious beliefs differ from their secular beliefs.
Bill Donohue, President of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, didn't think much of the meeting. He said, "If the Biden administration is going to manipulate the founding purpose of faith-based initiatives by welcoming the advice of militant secularists, it would do us all a favor to simply trash this office."
Agreed. If Biden pursues this "embracing" of these militant secularists, it could have a devastating impact on faith-based organizations.
