Public Education: The Enemy Within

The nation’s most powerful teachers unions are coaching school staff to obstruct immigration enforcement and destroy the rule of law in America.

The National Education Association is America’s largest teachers union, and the American Federation of Teachers is the second largest. Both groups regularly bankroll Democrats and leftist causes, and both are publicly funded organizations, with union dues coming from taxpayer-funded teachers’ salaries.

Now, they have published guidance urging staff to help illegal aliens evade mass deportation even though deportations of illegal aliens are legal and supported by a majority of Americans.

In Texas, a public school administrator has been caught on video coaching a parent on how to put a boy in girls' sports.

The administrator says, "It isn't illegal if you don't get caught."

Pathetic.

Be informed, not misled.

Under the banner "Protecting Education for our Children," America's two largest teachers' unions are neither protecting nor educating.

They are indoctrinating, not educating.

And they're doing so by creating disciples of cultural Marxism.

They have become Cicero's "Enemy within."

The presidents of both unions recently published statements opposing President Donald Trump’s executive order enabling broader immigration enforcement. Meanwhile, public officials — including Illinois Democrat Gov. J.B. Pritzker and Chicago Public Schools CEO Pedro Martinez — have been sharing false reports about ICE raids at schools in an apparent effort to stoke mass hysteria.

The day after Trump’s inauguration, NEA President Becky Pringle suggested she would obstruct immigration enforcement.

“The incoming Trump administration is committed to a mass deportation agenda that will inflict irreversible harm,” Pringle claimed. “We have a professional and moral responsibility to keep our students safe, especially if, and when, Trump sends ICE into our communities.”

In line with Pringle’s comments, the NEA issued “Guidance on Immigration Issues” this month, “strongly encouraging schools and school districts to adopt a Safe Zones policy that outlines what educators and staff should do if ICE attempts to engage in immigration enforcement at schools.” The guidance further states, “If your school district has not yet adopted such a policy, we encourage you to take proactive action.”

The Federalist says, "The NEA also said educators should have families download the app 'Notifica' — by open-border group United We Dream — which offers a help button so illegals can 'Notify [Their] Deportation Defense Network.' The NEA advised staff to 'Distribute Red Cards,' which give illegals instructions on how to evade arrest and the consequences of breaking the law."

In the event of a raid, the NEA said, educators should “not block or interfere with ICE activities or the agents. However, you do not have to give the agents access to non-public areas if they did not present a valid search warrant.” It said staff should “not give any statements to ICE agents or allow themselves to be interrogated before consulting with an attorney.” The union told illegals to “have an emergency plan” and not to open their doors if ICE shows up.

The union published a draft “safe zone” resolution, stipulating the district create a “Rapid Response Team” in case students face “detention by ICE” and ban ICE from campus pending approval by the superintendent. The resolution states that “should ICE or other immigration law enforcement agents request any student information,” staff are to refer them to the superintendent.

Numerous school districts across America have adopted “safe zone” policies, many starting in 2016. They include the usual suspects like Chicago, Los Angeles, Portland, and Seattle. But districts including Miami and Nashville — in deep red states — also pledged to defy law enforcement.

And speaking of "deep red states:"

In Texas, a public school administrator has been caught on video coaching a parent on how to put a boy in girl's sports.

The Blaze reports: The Texas ISD (Independent School District administrator tells a parent, "It isn't illegal if you don't get caught."

ISD (Independent School District) refers to public school districts in the United States. They receive local, state, and federal funding and are governed by elected or appointed school boards. ISD districts adhere to state and federal regulations, follow a mandated curriculum, and provide special education and support services. They are a slightly altered version of a regular public school.

An official with the Irving Independent School district was caught on camera giving a parent advice on how to sidestep rules in order to have a male play in female sports.

The alleged parent is heard on camera speaking to Reny Lizardo, executive director of campus operations with Irving ISD.

The woman appears to tell Lizardo she is thinking about moving her family to the district, including her "daughter" who is "transgender." She then told the official she is concerned about "transphobia" and "bigotry."

In the video, Lizardo appeared to tell the woman how to work around district rules in order to have the boy play on a girls' sports team.

"Could you legally change a gender on a birth certificate?" Lizardo asked the woman.

"I believe in some places you can," the woman replied.

"So if you can get that done, and you turn [in to] us a birth certificate that says 'this gender,' that's the gender we go with," Lizardo explained.

"I'm not a lawyer," Lizardo continued. "Texas is super conservative. So how do I say this legally? It's not illegal if you don't get caught, right? If no one knew, then we're good. If a parent found out or a student found out ... and they sued the district, we'd be in trouble. But we can also say, 'We didn't know,' so there's a plausible deniability."

Lizardo is also seen on the hidden camera video telling the woman, "Me and you never had this conversation."

The district official went on to say that "technically," students do not have to present a birth certificate to enroll. Lizardo even warned the woman that other officials would likely continuously request to see documentation but that it wasn't required.

When the woman asked if there were "a large number of undocumented" — presumably meaning students — Lizardo said, "Yes."

Lizardo explained that in some cases, "sooner or later," the district gives up on acquiring the documentation and moves on.

On X, Texas Governor Greg Abbott shared the story and clips of the report before commenting, "This Irving ISD Administrator should be fired on the spot."

Abbott continued,( link 5 ) "Both criminal & civil investigations must be taken against both the Administrator & Irving ISD. Has Irving ISD and its employees been involved in a fraudulent breach of state laws & a cover up? We must get the facts."

Accuracy in Media President Adam Guillette spoke to Blaze News and claimed many school district officials do not follow the law.

"I've been under cover in over 100 Texas school districts, and it is abundantly clear that the law means nothing to these radicals," Guillette said.

Takeaway

I'm sure you heard the song last month as we celebrated Christmas, "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas." You may have missed the line: “Mom and Dad can hardly wait ‘til school will start again.”

Although this song was published in 1951, parents had long before begun to accept the brainwashing of Horace Mann that public schools were the repositories of all knowledge. Later, cultural Marxist and socialist John Dewey convinced administrators that public schools were to promote democracy by instituting social change—something parents couldn’t possibly do.

Little by little, educators began to convince parents that public schools could parent and educate their children better. Now, every year, parents dutifully line up their offspring, fill out the required paperwork, and hand them over with few questions asked.

Once parents trusted public schools to bring up their kids, they abandoned their jobs as the primary educators of their children, leaving public schools free rein over everything from discipline to curricula. Consequently, lots of parents today wonder how they’ve graduated children they don’t even know and who reject the parent's own values.

Until parents wake up to the understanding that many schools do not have the best interests of their children at heart, public schools will continue to take over that job and provide a main course of indoctrination with a side order of education.

Be Informed: Read Deuteronomy 5-9, then ask yourself if your kids should be in public schools.
