Reckless Rush To Repeal DADT

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
The Obama Administration is pushing the homosexual agenda at any cost, reflecting disregard for truth and proper process, misleading our troops and misrepresenting the surveys obscuring the fact that 60% of our combat troops oppose the repeal and 67% of our marines oppose it.

CNSNEWS has written an article that most media outlets are avoiding. We are grateful for their courage and integrity in reporting. A live CNS NEWS feed can always be found on the home page of Faith and Freedom.

Conservative leaders are calling the Obama administration’s recent moves to enable homosexuals to serve openly in the military both “dishonest” and “reckless.”

The Obama administration announced Friday that it was ready to “certify” the repeal of the 1993 “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” statute, which would allow homosexuals to serve openly in the military 60 days after certification of the repeal.

Robert Knight, senior fellow for the American Civil Rights Union, told CNSNews.com, “I think the word ‘reckless’ best describes the Obama administration’s rush to introduce open homosexuality into the nation’s armed forces.”

“This process has been rife with dishonesty, junk science, media manipulation and contempt for our men and women serving in harm’s way,” said Knight. “The misrepresentation of the personnel survey was a masterpiece of deception.”

Elaine Donnelly, president of the Center for Military Readiness, also thinks the process has been both hasty and dishonest.

“During hearings in April, members of the current House Armed Services Committee repeatedly asked Defense Department witnesses, ‘How would repeal of the 1993 law improve combat readiness or benefit the military in any way?’” said Donnelly on her Web site. “The witnesses, including the military chiefs of staff, frequently answered, ‘I don’t know.’”

“According to a previously undisclosed Department of Defense Inspector General investigation of the Comprehensive Review Working Group (CRWG) process, the vaunted DoD ‘Survey of the Troops’ was pre-scripted even before the survey began,” Donnelly said.

Donnelly added that, “The DoD Inspector General report revealed that misleading survey results, [2] which obscured the strong opposition of 60 percent of combat troops and 67 percent of Marines, were prematurely and improperly leaked to the Washington Post in order to promote the campaign to repeal the 1993 law.”

“The bottom line is the troops were misled,” she said. “they thought their voices would be heard and respected. They were not. They were used as props in this entire campaign. And that is most regrettable.”

She further commented, “The issue now is not Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. Don’t Ask Don’t Tell is history. Don’t Ask Don’t Tell was never a law. We never supported Don’t Ask Don’t Tell…What we supported, and still support, was the law – which says, homosexuals are not eligible to be in the armed forces.”

“What Congress needs to do right now is retain the amendments that were attached to the Defense Authorization Bill and the Defense Appropriations Bill,” said Donnelly.

One amendment Donnelly referenced was sponsored by Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.) and Rep. Dan Burton (R-Ind.) which “would ensure that defense dollars are not used to implement military policy changes that violate the Defense of Marriage Act.”

The other successful amendment was sponsored by Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-Kan.) and would prohibit the use of funds for the training of chaplains to perform same-sex marriages.”

Furthermore, Donnelly said that, “Congressman Akin sponsored and successfully passed an amendment prohibiting same-sex marriages on military bases.” Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-Mo.) sponsored and passed an amendment to define, for all military purposes, marriage as the bond between one man and one woman.

Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) passed a measure that would require the four Chiefs of Staff of the Army, Navy, Air Force and the Marine Corps to “certify” that “repeal of the 1993 law would not degrade the readiness, effectiveness, cohesion, and morale of units and personnel that are engaged in combat, deployed to, or preparing for deployment to a combat theater.”

“History will hold accountable President Obama, members of the previous lame-duck http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifCongress, and gay activists who misused the federal courts in order to impose LGBT law and policies that will undermine morale and readiness in the All-Volunteer Force,” Donnelly said.

We truly are sloughing toward Gomorrah. God help us.

Same Sex Marriage-- Why Not Polygamy? And Beyond?

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
Kody Brown has 4 wives. One is legal and the other three are "sister" wives. He loves them all, they love him and together they have created a family. They are committed to each other.

He is in court asking why the state laws discriminate against him and his loving, committed family. And he is asking the court to declare the anti-polygamy laws "unconstitutional and unenforceable" on his "plural family."

He is using the same argument used to legalize so-called homosexual "marriage".

If same-sex marriage is okay, why then, should those in a loving, caring, multiple relationship be discriminated against? Where is the equality?

Why is, say, Senator Ed Murray or Representative Jamie Pedersen's right to marriage equality greater than Mr. Brown's?

Kody Brown's lawyers are using the same argument presently used by advocates of same-sex marriage.

His lawyers have told the court that the "one man, one woman" version of marriage has caused "personal injuries" to Mr. Brown and his family, that they are being illegally denied the rights to freedom of association, due process and equal protection, as well as the rights of adults to engage in "intimate conduct" without government intrusion.

You may recall that in the hearing before the U.S. Senate Committee on July 20 regarding marriage, Representative Steve King said, "These arguments are the same arguments that could be used to promote marriage between father and daughters, mother and sons or even polygamous relationships."

Rep. King was right.

Edward Whelan, president of the Ethics and Public Policy Center, told the same hearing that gay rights arguments for same-sex marriage "clearly threaten to pave the way for polygamous and other polyamorus unions."

He said if the male-female aspect of marriage can be "dismissed," surely the distinction between a marriage of two persons and a marriage of three or more is all the more arbitrary..."

Slippery Slope.

The Human Rights Campaign, the largest homosexual advocacy group in the country is saying there is "no way" same-sex marriage will lead to polygamy or effect other restrictions on the age or familial relationships of those who marry.

Why not? Are they now advocating marriage discrimination? Do they now advocate against equality?

Every time I have personally raised the "slippery slope" issue in regard to homosexual marriage, the press has in the best case raised their elite brow and in the worst case dismissed us as bigoted or out of touch. The homosexual community has called me..., let's not go there.

Catholic Archbishop Timothy Dolan said this week of New York's new homosexual "marriage" law, it is the "latest dilution of the authentic understanding of marriage."

He warned the next step will likely, "be another redefinition to justify multiple partners and infidelity."

He too, was right.

Washington State's Domestic Partner law, or as Murray, Pedersen and others call it, the "Every Thing But Marriage" law, has already justified and financially rewarded infidelity among heterosexual people over 60 for living together as married when they are not. In addition to financially rewarding homosexuals living together.

Kody Brown's attorneys also state that he and his family are members of the Apostolic United Brethren faith and have committed no crime except to live together. "Motivated by their sincere religious beliefs and love for one another."

In their conclusion, Brown's lawyers are claiming, "The Brown family's 'basic liberties and equal protections' are being violated."

These are the same arguments used in New York and elsewhere to force, homosexual "marriage" on a society.

A deception of biblical proportion.

God help us.

NY "Marriage"--Bliss or Blatant Violations

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
While the media gave the nation images of midnight bliss at Niagara Falls, two homosexuals being "married" in Republican Mayor Blumberg's office, by the Mayor himself, and various intimate moments elsewhere across the state celebrating the triumph of "equality" while dispensing with 5000 years of marriage as a natural union between a man and a woman, a very different image was already beginning to emerge.

It is an image of blatant violations of citizen rights. An ugly picture of threats and possible miscarriage of the political process in getting to the "vote".

We now learn there were most likely numerous constitutional and legal violations in the journey to "equality."

A lawsuit has been filed. Here are some of the violations cited in the suit and a copy of the actual complaint.

While Associated Press carried a brief story yesterday afternoon, they failed to cover filing with any importance. The story will find its way into the media over the next few days.

Liberty Council has filed a suit on behalf of New Yorkers For Constitutional Freedoms.

I have linked an actual copy of the complaint here.

The complaint states a number of violations by the New York Senate, the Governor and others in their haste to redefine marriage.

A few examples:

They claim the Governor personally pressured Republican Senators to vote for the ACT at a private meeting at the Governor's mansion using millions of dollars he raised from Wall Street financiers.

The suit claims that New York's Senate violated its own procedures and the state's open meetings law when it approved the bill on June 24.

The Senate leaders prevented lawmakers who opposed the ACT from speaking their opposition from the floor.

The Senate didn't follow procedures that require a bill to go through appropriate committees before a full Senate vote.

There were Senate lock-outs preventing lobbyists and the public access to elected Representatives.

Rather than magic at midnight, it was mayhem in the chamber. The lawmakers, Governor, Mayor and others, trampled citizen's rights and evidently violated the very laws they have pledged to uphold.

The media's image of bliss was apparently a mere veneer covering the blatant legal violations, all in the name of "equality" and "secular progressive fairness."

God help us!

Let the People Vote

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
Ruth Fremson/The New York Times

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg officiated at the wedding of two of his staff members, Jonathan Mintz, left, and John Feinblatt. The couple's two young daughters, Georgia and Maeve, were there to celebrate.

Tens of thousands of Christians and social conservatives lined the streets of New York yesterday, praying and asking the state legislature to "let the people vote" on redefining marriage.

More than 10,000 showed up just in Manhattan, praying aloud as the "marriages" began.

Hispanic Christians sang hymns and held their Bibles as they walked along the street.

Pastor William Gillison, African American pastor from Buffalo, publicly expressed outrage that "a handful of legislators paid no attention to millions of New Yorkers" on the issue of marriage.

He said, "We are upset because you violated our law that is older and greater than New York."

You may recall that the New York lawmakers were trying to make nice with the churches that believe homosexual behavior is sin and should not be elevated and celebrated and that natural, biblical marriage should not be redefined, by writing some so-called "special protections" into the law for them.

Pastor Gillison was upset about that as well and told the protesters, the press and the politicians, "Before you voted, we didn't need 'special protections', we were already protected by the existing law."

This was not a one day event. The people of New York are organizing. Unlike Washington State, New York does not provide for citizens to directly petition to put the marriage issue on the ballot.

Here's what they are going to do. And here's what the lone Democrat senator who voted against so-called homosexual "marriage" in New York had to say.

Many of the organizers were announcing that this was not a one day event, but the beginning of a "movement" to defend and protect natural marriage. The only recourse in New York is to vote those lawmakers, especially the four Republicans who redefined marriage, out of office and replace them with lawmakers who will support and defend natural marriage.

Pro-marriage leaders feel they can accomplish this by 2015 or 2016 and get the legislature to vote to refer it to the people.

State Senator Rubin Diaz
, D-Bronx, stressed that no hateful comments or expressions would be tolerated. He called for "peaceful, prayerful" expressions of dissent and a call for the issue to be put on the ballot.

I searched the news sources this morning and could not find any incidences where there were expressions of hate toward individuals, although I am certain some will report that there were because anyone who does not celebrate homosexuality and so-called homosexual "marriage" is automatically tagged as a" bigot."

He also asked the Republican Mayor what he was thinking--- saying, "In a city where teachers and public employees are being laid off, and fire houses are being closed for lack of funds, Mayor Michael Bloomberg has decided to spend city funds to have government open on a Sunday to perform same sex weddings."

There are different kinds of Republicans. Please keep that in mind. The goal of Christians and social conservatives should not be to merely elect a "Republican," rather to elect someone who authentically supports natural marriage, the sanctity of life and family.

He urged the thousands in attendance to boldly protest the homosexual "marriage" law with the same intensity as the Apostles testified the resurrection of Christ following Pentecost. He said, "Christians should not retreat in fear as the Apostles did following the crucifixion and before the resurrection."

Senator Diaz has also said Christians need to "organize better" against homosexual "marriage" and that Christians often "pray too much and act too little."

While the party of perversion continues, it may prove to be more than a celebration of casting off traditional values, it may also become the catalyst for biblical Christians and social conservatives to wake up and act on their beliefs.

Diaz and other leaders strongly question the polls and surveys that supposedly show a majority of Americans now support homosexual "marriage."

35% Of Americans Apathetic to Debt Crisis

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
While America teeters on the brink of financial disaster, Gallup has found that 35% of Americans have "no opinion" about it.

As of yesterday, July 18, there were 311,792,749 people living in this country. See population clock here.

So, 109,127,462 Americans are not interested enough to have an opinion one way of the other.

Apathy.

Francis Schaeffer said in his book, How Then Should We Live?, "Culture and freedom is fragile."

History teaches us what not to do if we want to remain free.

Judeo- Christian principles teach us what we must do to remain free.

Yesterday, I came across a short video of Francis Schaeffer explaining how apathy destroyed Rome and the implication to our own culture.

Schaeffer says Romans tried to build upon the state---they turned away from the Christian answers and principles that were before them and there culture collapsed.

It collapsed from internal, not external weaknesses.

"Apathy," says Schaeffer, "was the chief mark of the period."

I have linked his video here. Please take a moment and watch it. So you can----

A House Divided. Vice or Virtue?

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
Most often when a house is permanently divided, it is calamitous, but in the current debt ceiling debate, there is virtue.

Abraham Lincoln said in his famous "House Divided" speech on June 16, 1858, speaking to the issue of slavery and paraphrasing Jesus, "A house divided against itself cannot stand."

"I believe this government cannot endure, permanently half slave and half free...I do not expect the house to fall...but I do expect it to cease to be divided...It will become all one thing or all the other."

A moral truth. His statement was divisive beyond description at the time. His former business partner, lawyer Leonard Swett, predicted Lincoln had sealed his own demise. But Lincoln was right. He stood with Truth. And the rest is history.

The debt ceiling debate is the prelude of a much greater issue than just next year's budget and debt. It is linked to a vision of what America will and will not become in the coming years and decades. It is a moral consideration. It's about destiny. It is a matter of stewardship.

Will America continue to be the "rising sun" Ben Franklin spoke of in the Constitutional Convention of 1787?

Will we continue to be that "City On a Hill" that Pastor William Bradford first spoke of as he set foot on the New World and President Ronald Reagan popularized as he restored "Morning in America?"

From time to time America has been deeply divided, perhaps now, more than at any time since the Civil War.

We know the moral issues: Abortion, Defense of Natural Marriage, and Fiscal Responsibility.

The debt ceiling debate is a moral one. While it is about numbers and paychecks and payments, it is about much more than that. It is about defining the destiny of this great country.

Will we continue to be the "City on a Hill"? Will the sun continue to rise on America? Or will we become a second rate European style socialist state?

Lincoln understood the deep division of his time and the eternal principles that always form the path to blessing and freedom and prosperity. And human dignity.

He understood that a nation, a city or a household cannot continue permanently divided. He also understood that as Jesus taught the "House Divided" principle, He also taught that standing for Truth often divides.

It was Jesus Himself who said, "Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division." (Luke 12: 51)

In this there is a profound and necessary truth.

Scripture clearly shows how Jesus divides by confronting with Truth while requiring a decision. The way we respond often divides us. And if we ignore it, that in itself is a form of rejecting it.

There are those in America who feel that to continue on our present financial course is both immoral and fatal. And some of them were elected last November. They have put their country above their own career.

Rep. Tom Reed, a freshman Republican from upstate New York says, "Like many of my colleagues in the freshman class, I came down here to get our fiscal house in order and to take care of the threat to national security that we see in the federal debt. We came here not to have long careers. We came here to do something. We don't care about re-election."

Other freshman lawmakers echo Reed's sentiments---Rep. Jeff Landry, Louisiana, Senator Mike Lee, Utah, Rep. Todd Rokita, Indiana, to name a few.

In 2004, Rep. Steny H. Hoyer, D- Maryland, the number 2 Democrat in the House, referred to continuing to raise the country's debt limit as "immoral and intellectually bankrupt." He was right then and would be right now, except he, as President Obama who as a senator called the need to raise the debt limit a result of "a sign of leadership failure" apparently are concerned about a long career. And have found another truth.

America must get its financial house in order.

Lincoln said, "Our cause, then, must be intrusted to, and conducted by, its own undoubted friends--those whose hands are free, whose hearts are in the work--who do care for the result."

May God bless, strengthen and guide those freshman (and others) whose hands are free, whose hearts are in the work. Those who really do care for the result. Whose dissent is virtuous.

"Quit Believing the President"

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
Rep. Louis Gohmert, R-Texas, told House Speaker John Boehner yesterday afternoon to "quit believing the president" in his threats regarding not raising the debt ceiling.

What threats?

Here's what CBS said to the President regarding Social Security checks, veterans' checks, disability checks, etc. and what the President told CBS' Scott Pelley on the CBS Evening News.

Someones pants may be on fire.

Pelley to the President: "Can you tell the folks at home that, no matter what happens, the Social Security checks are going to go out on August 3rd? There are about $20 billion worth of Social Security checks that have to go out the day after the government is supposedly going to go into default."

President Obama: "Well this is not just a matter of Social Security checks. These are veterans checks, these are folks on disability and their checks. There are about 70 million checks that go out each month."

Pelley: "Can you guarantee, as president, that those checks will go out on August 3rd?"

President Obama: "I cannot guarantee that those checks go out on August 3rd if we haven't resolved this issue [raising the debt ceiling], because there may simply not be the money in the coffers to do it."

Rep. Gohmert, responding to a reporter: "The Speakers' getting bad advice. I guess the problem with the Speaker and him saying that is, he believed the President and I would encourage the Speaker not to believe the President anymore, when the President says things like that. Because the fact is if he'll do his homework he'll find there is such a thing called Social Security Trust Fund, and the Social Security Trust Fund will be able to pay seniors their checks for many months to come even if Congress does nothing."

He said of President Obama's comments, "It's dishonest---scare tactics."

So, whose pants are on fire?

CNS NEWS
has done the homework for us, but are saying that anyone can look it up on the U.S. Treasury website.

The Facts?

Federal revenue for June could have paid all Social Security benefits and all veterans' benefits and Veterans Affairs programs almost three and a half times over. And there's more.

During June, tax revenue income to the government was $196.99 billion. That is enough to pay not only all Social Security, veterans, etc., for the month but additionally, the interest on the federal debt, Medicare, Medicaid, the Indian Health Services, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, all workers salaries and federal workers insurance benefits, Justice Department programs and Defense Vendors. With some left over.

CNS has itemized all of it for us.

President Obama: "I cannot guarantee the checks will go out..."

The Facts: Why, Mr. President? What is more important than these people? What are your priorities? What is your motive in saying these things?

Representatives Gohmert, R-Texas, Steve King, R- Iowa and Michele Bachmann, R- Minn, introduced legislation Tuesday of this week that will ensure that the federal government prioritizes payments to members of the Armed Services in the event the U.S. reaches the debt limit.

Psalms 11:3 says, "When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?"

NEWSWEEK: A Love Letter To Palin?

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
How bad is the American news media?

It's this bad.

Lawrence O'Donnell, on his MSNBC show, is accusing Newsweek Magazine of cutting a deal with Palin. He says Newsweek gets access to her and she gets the cover of their magazine. He says the story is "pathetic," "desperate" and "utterly absurdist."

Newsweek says O'Donnell's allegations are a "rant."

O'Donnell says their cover is a lie because they quote Palin saying, "I can win."

He says the magazine fills the story "with flattering photographs and a love letter to Palin."

As opposed to an MSNBC piece that might, what? Publish unflattering photos? And slander her?

Here's how O'Donnell knows the whole thing is rigged.

It's something Palin said.

How does O'Donnell know Newsweek cut a deal with Palin?

"As to why Newsweek decided to give Palin the softest treatment the lamestream media ever has", he says, "the answer actually lies at the end of the article, where Newsweek inadvertently confesses to the deal it obviously made to Palin for the cover, the flattering photography and the puff piece."

He says Palin said, "The mainstream press is becoming less and less relevant."

She also said she has no hesitation " \shunning media outlets" she does not trust.

That's it.

O' Donnell concludes, "That means Newsweek had to make promises to her to get her trust."

But Mr. O'Donnell, what if they didn't have to make promises to her? What if they just told the truth about her and let people draw their own conclusions?

Or is something more motivating Lawrence O'Donnell than merely getting to the bottom of all this?

He may be very close to the bottom now.

Back on the November 5, 2010 edition of MSNBC's "Morning Joe" program, Lawrence O'Donnell described himself as a socialist.

He said, "I am not a liberal who is so afraid of the word that I had to change my name to progressive. Liberals amuse me. I am a socialist. I live to the extreme left, the extreme left of you mere liberals, okay?"

Okay, Mr. O'Donnell. We got it.

The reason Lawrence O'Donnell is slamming Newsweek is because Newsweek didn't slam Palin.

This episode further affirms things that were already quite clear.

That's why we always encourage you to--

My "Private Moment" with Mrs Francis Schaeffer

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
In a segment designed to excoriate Michele Bachman and Rick Perry, should he decide to run for President, MSNBC brought in a guest last week whom they knew would deliver the goods against Bachman, Perry or any other Christian leader. Their guest was a man who has smeared conservative Christians as "radical," "weird," the people who "hate America" and people who are secretly working toward an American "Theocracy" to replace the Constitution.

Frank Schaeffer is their man. He is the son of the great theologian, Francis Schaeffer, and his wife Edith.

Francis and Edith co-founded L'abri, a fellowship that welcomed people who were seeking answers to questions about God and the meaning of life. Francis Schaeffer was a widely published author and considered by many to be the most influential evangelical since C.S. Lewis. Both Francis and Edith wrote a number of significant books on living out our faith with a biblical worldview.

Francis Schaeffer is credited by most observers as the most influential leader in the American social, political and spiritual awakening in the past generation, giving rise to the so-called "Religious Right".

So, what happened to Frank, their son?

The lengthy title of his newest book gives you a hint: "Sex, Mom, and God: How the Bible's Strange Take On Sex Led To Crazy Politics---and How I Learned To Love Women (and Jesus) Anyway."

Let me share with you my "private moment" with his mother, Edith Schaeffer, regarding her son.

It was 1985. I had just finished taping 2 television programs with my guest Edith Schaeffer.

We had discussed her new book, the ministry of L'brie and the passing of her husband the previous year.

As the production crew cleared the studio, moving to the news studio for the evening news broadcast, Mrs Schaeffer turned to me as we remained on my set in the empty studio and asked, "Can we have a "private moment?"

I answered, "Yes, of course."

"I want to talk about my son, Frankie," she began. "I know you have worked with thousands of kids and young people, including in Hollywood."

Now, 26 years later, and dozens, if not hundreds of TV, radio and newspaper interviews as well as several books in which "Frankie" has excoriated conservative Christians and the values and principles his family so capably taught and advocated, I am certain I am not violating the privacy of our conversation.

As Edith started to tell me about her son, she began to weep.

Through tears, she told me her son was getting into film making and was committed to making only 'R' rated films. She said he told her no one will watch them if they are not 'R' rated.

She said "Gary, what do you think?" I told her I did not believe we needed to become like the world, to reach the world. I said I thought there was a market for family friendly, even faith friendly films. She strongly agreed.

I asked if she felt her son may be rebelling against her and her late husband's belief? And did she feel his expressed desire to reach people with the gospel was authentic. She was unsure.

I told her I had dealt with high profile families in Hollywood where the press would nearly always exploit the situation. If a child rebelled against the moral and spiritual beliefs of their parents, the press would tend to elevate the child. If a child from a secular or atheist family accepted Jesus Christ and the family shunned them, the press would exploit that as well.

She didn't want to think Frankie was rebelling, but was unsure. We spoke for about half an hour.

I have never seen Mrs. Francis Schaeffer since, nor have I ever met Frankie, or Frank as he is now known.

Here's a brief overview of what has happened since that" private moment" 25 years ago:

Last I heard, Edith is living near 2 of her 4 children in Switzerland.

Frank has made about 25 films. He considers 4 of them "feature" films. Most all of them have been documentaries and none have been successful in terms of the entertainment industry. Millions of dollars were invested in the films.

He gave up film making in 1992. He did not make it as a film maker.

Following the end of his film making career, he began writing books--a novel or two, then he co-wrote "The Unexcused Absence of America's Upper Class From Military Service and How It Hurts Our Country" with a staff person of former President Bill Clinton. Frank was not embraced by the media, but had some recognition.

But in 2007, he found the acceptance he had been looking for, both from the press and the secular public, when he wrote his autobiography, "Crazy For God: How I Grew Up As One of the Elect, Helped Found the Religious Right and Lived To Take It All (or almost all) of it Back."

He wrote in this book, "In the mid 1980's I left the Religious Right, after I realized just how anti-American they are."

Schaeffer, who endorsed Obama in 2008, wrote an open letter which was published in a number of newspapers to John McCain, whom he had worked for in the past, and Sarah Palin, saying in part, "If you do not stand up for all that is good in America and declare that Senator Obama is a patriot, fit for office, and denounce your hate-filled supporters...history will hold you responsible for all that follows."

In his just released book, "Sex, Mom and God..." he claims to love his mom and to have learned much from her but, he writes, "I simply chose to follow the 'other' Edith Schaeffer, the one whose heart was elsewhere than in the lifeless theories she paid lip service to."

I did not see that Edith Schaeffer.

I saw a woman who was born and raised in China by Christian missionaries, a woman who, along with her husband, impacted millions of lives for the cause of Christ and a mother who was deeply troubled by her son and the path he was choosing.

Frankie, I saw your mother's broken heart in 1985. I am certain it is broken again. You will not read this, but some very close to you will likely read it. I hope they pass it along.

God has given you extraordinary gifts of writing and public speaking. Hopefully, your need for acceptance by the press and secular elites has been met.

I pray you consider putting aside the personal, poignant revelations of family and use the gifts God has given you for a completely new inspiration. Perhaps those inspirations could come from the things Jesus said and taught.

Sarah Palin: "The Sugar Daddy Has Run Out Of Sugar"

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
Sarah Palin, as usual, was very direct this past Saturday in a column she wrote on Facebook.

Saying the "Sugar daddy has run out of sugar," Sarah Palin said Saturday, "Barack Obama’s big government policies continue to fail. He should put a link to the national debt clock on his BlackBerry. The gears on that clock have nearly exploded during his administration. Yesterday’s terrible job numbers should not be a surprise because it all goes back to our debt. Our dangerously unsustainable debt is wiping out our jobs, crippling our economic growth, and jeopardizing our position in the global economy as the leader of the free world."

I seriously doubt that the President will put a debt clock on his BlackBerry and would most likely prefer you not even see the debt clock, much less carry it around in your pocket or purse.

I have linked it below.

She also said, "Most of us don’t see a lot of real leadership in D.C., and it’s profoundly disappointing."

She continued, "But let me tell you where real hope lies. It’s not the hopey-changey stuff we heard about in 2008. Real hope comes from realizing how God has blessed our exceptional nation, and then doing something about it. We have been blessed with natural resources, hardworking entrepreneurs, and a Constitution that preserves the greatest form of government ever devised by man. If we develop those natural resources, allow our entrepreneurs to keep and invest more of what they earn, and adhere to the time-tested truths of our Constitution, we will prosper and endure."

And concluded: "But first and foremost we must tackle our debt. We don’t have the luxury of playing politics as usual. We need real leaders who will put aside their own political self-interest to do what is right for the nation. And if they don’t emerge… well, America has a do-over in November 2012."

I strongly recommend you read the entire column. I also strongly recommend you take a look at the debt clock. These are real numbers in real time.

Support Traditional Marriage? "You're Dead"

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
Bob Unruh, at World Net Daily, published an article this past weekend regarding the upcoming trial on whether the names of petition signers on R-71 should be made public.

In it he quotes our lead attorney James Bopp, Jr., "What is becoming increasingly evident," said James Bopp of the James Madison Center, "is that some groups and individuals, certainly a minority, have resorted to advancing their cause, not by debating the merits of the issue but by discouraging participation in the democratic process itself."

Quoting Bopp and his filing on our behalf he writes, "In an obvious attempt to dissuade people from signing the … petition, two homosexual advocacy groups – Massachusetts-based KnowThyNeighbor.org and Washington-based WhoSigned.org – announced their intentions to obtain the identities of every person who signed the petition; to publicly expose the persons on their respective web sites; and to make their web sites 'accessible and searchable."

"Dave Ammons, communications director for Defendant Sam Reed, posted a blog entry on the Secretary of State's web site explaining that the alleged reason for wanting to publicly expose … petition signers was to get 'voters to think twice about signing' … and to allow opponents to 'be able to talk with their neighbors and townspeople who signed to explain the ramifications.'"

Homosexual promoters have stated publicly they want to post the personal contact information on the Internet so that activists can find them for "uncomfortable conversations."

I strongly suggest you read the article. There is a list of threats that Mr. Bopp has entered into the record. They are listed in the article. I have linked it below.

This is the link to Unruh's article.

Secretary of State Sam Reed and Attorney General Rob McKenna are very focused on releasing these 138,000 names to homosexual activists, even though on 2 separate occasions the names of petition signers in Washington State have been sealed for their protection. One such act was to protect homosexual activists.

"I Was Wrong About Same-Sex Marriage"

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
"I was a strong opponent of same-sex marriage. Fourteen years ago Andrew Sullivan and I forcefully debated the issue...Yet, I find myself strongly untroubled by New York state's vote to authorize same-sex marriage---a vote that probably signals that most 'blue' states will follow within the next ten years."

"Why?"

"The short answer is that the case against same-sex marriage has been tested against reality. The case has not passed its test."
------David Frum, in his apology column for CNN last week.

He concluded, "If people like me would have been right, we should have seen the American family become radically more unstable over the subsequent decade and a half."

But facts are not on his side.

First, where and when has homosexual "marriage" been "tested"? Homosexual "marriage" has not been tested nationwide.

Six state governments---6 out of 50, now sanction homosexual "marriage." That is hardly a national testing.

Of the 6 states; New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, Vermont and New Hampshire, and in 2, maybe more, there is significant opposition organizing against the law and the legislature that passed it.

Frum's talking points are the same ones I have heard a hundred times.

I have told KIRO Radio's Dave Ross several times in live interviews in Seattle that gay marriage won't directly affect my personal marriage, today. However, the redefinition of marriage contributes to the general decline of natural marriage, by promoting, through entitlements and benefits, people living together under virtually any circumstance.

Frum's column was telling. And he missed the point completely when he wrote, "By coincidence, I am writing these words on the morning of my own 23rd wedding anniversary. Of all the blessings life has to offer, none equals a happy marriage."

That's the point, Mr. Frum. That's why redefining it is a very bad idea.

That's why the Bible instructs us to "honor" marriage, referring to natural marriage between a man and a woman.

I know of no one who is suggesting that homosexual "marriage" today will destroy natural marriage tomorrow. It's a symbol of a broader devaluation of natural marriage that is of concern. And of the moral decline it promotes.

The same people who advocate for homosexual "marriage," also advocate for domestic partnerships, civil unions, etc, all of which honor and reward those who live outside marriage.

In a morality based culture, that is considered immoral. And the government rewards the immoral behavior.

Since homosexual "marriage" was legalized in the Netherlands, the number of marriages has declined. It's down 10% since 1999, while registered partnerships have increased 500% according to William C. Duncan at the Institute for Marriage and Public Policy.

Duncan found 9 in 10 couples live together before marrying and 2/3 of co-habitating couples "plan to marry" but keep postponing the marriage.

And the arguments for homosexual "marriage" are the same today as they were 14 years ago when Frum opposed it, except....

Homosexuality has evolved from an act-sodomy; to a behavior-homosexuality; to an identity-gay, while the advocates have their" conversation " with the public declaring that theirs is a biologically driven behavior, therefore they are not responsible and it is not a choice.

The social battering ram is their identifying with the civil rights struggles of African Americans.

Gay is not Black. Sexual behavior is not the same as race. But people are led to believe it is in the name of gay advocacy.

Frum is a result of the deception. And so are many of our kids in the classroom.

Chuck Donovan, with the Heritage Foundation, gives 5 key impacts of the New York Marriage decision.

They are:

1. The vote confirms an adverse trend for marriage law in New York.

2. The policy change emanates from the legislature and is reversible by the legislature.

3. Religious liberty is suffering a death of a thousand cuts and the collision of religious/moral conscience and non-discrimination laws still looms.

4. Redefinition of the family is the clear goal of same-sex activists.

5. Marriage is a mega issue and merits a full scale national debate in 2012.

I have linked his column above. I am joining others in asking for a national debate and a national vote on marriage.

I will update you.

Sunrise-Sunset Over Washington DC

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
As you celebrate our country and our freedoms this weekend, here's a thought as to why we have been blessed as a nation.

It's interesting that in DC, the first and last rays of sunlight each day fall on the Washington Monument--the tallest structure in the area, at 555 feet tall.

On the peak of the Monument, inscribed on the four-sided aluminum capstone are the Latin words, Laus Deo, "Praise Be To God."

Join our Founders, in an expression of praise to God for His blessings and favor on what has become the most free, blessed nation in the history of the world.

May God bless America. And may America bless God.
