Cities and public schools continue to ban all things Christian.
Every year we see another Nativity challenged or removed, Christmas trees become holiday trees, and 2 years ago a school in Bellevue renamed the Christmas ornaments on their "holiday tree," requiring them all to be shaped like mittens and asked that students refer to them as "holiday mittens" rather than Christmas ornaments.
And there are those who continue to say there is no war on Christmas.
Now this non-war effort has, in the name of inclusion and welcoming, included Easter.
The latest local example is Edmonds. For those of you who live somewhere other than Seattle, Edmonds is a suburb to the North of the city.
KOMO News is reporting that the city of Edmonds has taken "the controversial step of removing the word 'Easter' from its egg hunt---a tradition in the city."
In a written statement, officials from the city say in the spirit of being inclusive to all citizens, including non Christians, the annual celebration has been re-named the "Edmonds Egg Hunt."
They say, "The removal of specific religious references is common throughout many cities...we want to recognize and welcome all citizens to our events regardless of faith."
So they are acting in the spirit of inclusiveness and welcoming.
Actually, that reflects one very important aspect of Easter. The message of Easter is both welcoming and inclusive.
Let me tell you about my favorite Easter egg.

Forgiveness--A Tool Or A Transformation?
Nancy Pelosi's daughter, Alexandra Pelosi, has produced another documentary. She's produced a couple of films in the past, neither complimentary to evangelical Christians---particularly "Friends of God."
This time its about former New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevey's fall from political power after it was revealed that he was having an affair---with another man.
This film, "Fall To Grace" is kind to McGreevey as you might imagine. Even the title suggests that it is.
Her film making is of little interest to me, but a comment she made this week while promoting it, caught my attention.
She confessed she misled McGreevey a little in the beginning to get him to agree and sign the releases for her film. His male partner, she says, never did feel comfortable.
Ms. Pelosi said she has a simple mantra that she lives by regarding forgiveness.
The Supreme Court continued the hearing on marriage yesterday. They will rule on Prop. 8 and DOMA in June.
Christian leaders were expressing their views yesterday afternoon after listening to the arguments and the justices' questions and comments.
The comments and concerns of Matt Staver, founder of Liberty Counsel, Jim Campbell, attorney with Alliance Defending Marriage, and Andrew Walker with the Heritage Foundation, all echoed concerns that should the Court rule in any way that does not affirm marriage as the union between a man and a woman, it will do untold harm to religious liberty in America. The link above provides their comments.
Now, more about forgiveness.

RNC Chairman: "Don't Act Like Old Testament Heretics On Marriage"
As the world watches America, a nation founded on biblical principles, America watches the Supreme Court as they consider marriage.
People of faith and conservatives should also be watching the Republican Party.
Republican Party National Chairman Reince Priebus told USA Today this week, "I don't believe we need to act like Old Testament heretics" regarding homosexuality and same-sex marriage.
The Supreme Court continues its hearing on marriage. And the future of our nation.
The questioning yesterday perhaps gave a clue to how they are thinking.
Today they are considering the constitutionality of the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).
Some thoughts on the Court hearings yesterday and what is the Republican Party thinking?

The Supreme Court And Marriage--An Exchange Of Truth?
The case of Proposition 8 in California has been passed around, to say the least. The people have spoken and the lower court has spoken, now the highest court in the land---the Supreme Court of the United States, will rule---or decide not to rule.
The Court will begin to hear arguments today on the constitutionality of both California's Proposition 8 and tomorrow, the constitutionality of the Federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).
This is a defining moment for America, a nation that has defined itself as "One Nation Under God."
A nation whose legal and social principles have been seen as indissoluble with the principles of biblical Christianity.
A nation founded on biblical principles now hangs in the moral balance.
Will we chose to deny the clear teaching of Scripture in regard to homosexual behavior? The Bible and biblical principles have been the historic guiding light in our culture. Will we now redefine marriage, the most fundamental component of the social structure, or will we stand against the political tide and affirm marriage as it was intended?
How will the Supreme Court rule on the most fundamental social component in human experience? Will they affirm the model instituted by God at Creation and reaffirmed by every successful civilization in history? Will they protect the model of marriage that every world religion advocates?
Or will they, as Paul described in his letter to the Roman Christians, "Exchange the truth of God for the lie"?
This moral issue has become politicized and swings more on the emotional personal stories that dominate it than the reality of what is best for children and the family, which is the cornerstone of society.
The moral issue of marriage has been purposely blurred by those who seek to redefine it, from Chief Justice John Robert's own family to a hundred other human interest stories that lend political and emotional credence to redefining marriage.

"Stomping On Jesus" In The Public Classroom
Once again government run public education is leading the moral decline and the growing attack on all things Christian in our culture, while challenging freedom of religious expression.
Last Thursday, a student at Florida Atlantic University accused his professor of telling the class to write the name JESUS in bold letters on a piece of paper, drop it on the floor and "stomp on it."
Student Ryan Rotela refused to do it. He was suspended from class.
Saturday, this issue took an interesting turn.
Bill Diss has taught at Benson High School in Portland, Oregon for 11 years. Last week he was removed from the classroom, placed on administrative leave and told he would be dismissed.
Why?
Because of his expressed beliefs regarding abortion and specifically his beliefs regarding Planned Parenthood and their programs in the public school.
Public education has a very specific agenda. They advocate for "freedom of speech," "religious beliefs," "tolerance," "diversity," "equality" and a number of other high sounding virtues---as long as the teacher is in sync with the government mandated teaching materials. Or remains stone silent.
Here are some details you should be aware of.

Muslims Accuse WA State Teacher Of Bullying
Mary Janda has been a middle school teacher in Concrete, a small Washington State town of 700, for the past 21 years.
She is now being accused by the Washington affiliate of the HAMAS connected Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as being a bully.
They are also accusing her of racism.
The incident happened last October, but the radical Islamic group began their attack last month by contacting the federal government and asking them to investigate comments made by Janda.
So, what was she teaching?
She was teaching a mandated class on bullying. Now she is being bullied.
While the national press is covering the story, the Seattle press and media, with the exception on one, seems to be ignoring the story. I think I know why.

Suit Claims "Planned Parenthood WA Defrauded Taxpayers"
While Planned Parenthood, WA is headed to court for defrauding taxpayers of hundreds of millions of dollars, abortionist Dr Kermit Gosnell's murder trial has gotten underway.
According to a federal lawsuit, which was made public this week, Planned Parenthood (Washington) submitted "repeated false, fraudulent and/or ineligible claims for reimbursement."
Alliance Defending Freedom senior counsel Michael J. Norton, a former US Attorney says, "Americans deserve to know, especially in economic times like these, if their hard earned tax money is being funneled to groups who are misusing it."
He says Planned Parenthood has "cheated American taxpayers for too long. Its time the abortion giant is held accountable."
Late term abortion Doctor Kermit Gosnell's murder trial has begun.
The Philadelphia District Attorney called Gosnell's abortion clinic a "House of Horrors" in his opening statements.
Gosnell's attorney Jack McMahon says of the trial, "This is a targeted, elitist and racist prosecution of a doctor who's done nothing but give back to the poor and the people of West Philadelphia."
He says, "Its a prosecutorial lynching of Dr. Kermit Gosnell," who is African American.
The abortion industry is the face of evil---and greed. And we are looking at its darkest side.
There will be a hearing on HB 1044 in Olympia, April 1st at 10 AM in the J.A. Cherberg Building, Senate Hearing Room 4. If you can attend this hearing, please do so.
Regardless of whether you attend, be sure to contact your elected officials and tell them you oppose HB 1044.
HB 1044 requires all insurance that covers costs for birth to also cover costs of an abortion. It is often referred to as the Reproductive Parity Act. Thank you for asking your elected official to oppose it.

The March To Moral Madness
The Republican Party seems to be marching away from our Founding principles and biblical Christian values that the party affirms in their platform, but denies in their actions.
Their latest blueprint to success, "The Growth And Opportunity Project" released yesterday, affirms that politics is more important than principle, relativism is making an impact on the Grand Old Party and they are reading tea leaves rather than facts.
They are marching toward moral madness, and they're insisting we join the parade.

Republicans--The Search For Identity
It was a normal morning as I drove from La Canada into our church in North Hollywood. The traffic was moderate to heavy, people were running late and in a hurry. As I pulled into the parking lot across Burbank Blvd from the church, I noticed two legs wearing jeans and two feet with tennis shoes sticking out from under a large bush.
I first thought he was asleep, or stoned from a night of drugs.
But he was dead.
With forensics not so advanced as now, the North Hollywood police could not immediately identify the teenager. He had no police record.
They found only one single mark of identity. It was a cassette tape in his pocket with a recording of the band "Black Sabbath."
The one song on the tape seemed to sum up his life---and death. It became his identity.
Over the following days when I would speak to the police, we would refer to him as the "Black Sabbath" kid.
Which song was in his pocket?
The Republican Party is searching, no scrambling, to discover its own identity.

The "God Particle" - What Does It Mean?
Scientists around the world are reporting that they are all but certain they have discovered the Higgs boson, often referred to as the "God Particle."
This, they say, is the missing cornerstone of physics---the discovery of this particle will unlock to science how the universe came into existence---and how it will end.
Scientists are saying this will be the "eureka" moment.
What does this mean to those who believe in biblical Creation? Will this scientific discovery challenge those beliefs? Or further confirm the biblical account?

The Pope, The Press And The Politicians
A new Pope has been chosen to lead the 1.2 billion members of the Catholic church.
The press, making some attempts at respect, are clearly disappointed. They wanted a more progressive Pope, with updated beliefs-- more in sync with American progressivism.
And American politicians like V.P. Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi and others who claim Catholicism, but stand against some of the most fundamental doctrines of the church---abortion and same-sex "marriage," have got to have regrets. How are they going to square what they say they believe with their deeds?

Losing Our Way--Finding Our Way
When longtime New York Times journalist, Bob Herbert, left the paper nearly two years ago, his farewell article was titled, "Losing Our Way."
His last words were used to encourage a greater move toward the far left progressive philosophy as the method of finding ourselves and restoring the country.
In the past 24 months, our government and its leadership has generally followed suggestions.
They haven't worked. They have never worked because they stand in direct conflict with the founding principles that led America to greatness.
Another farewell, by someone far more invested in the country and more closely associated with its founding and in full agreement with its founding principles, gave a very different narrative in his last column.
Here is the path to finding our way:

Here is the path to finding our way:
But first: The New Pope Francis I is very clear on positions of abortion, euthanasia and same-sex marriage.
He has said, "We should be conscious that people cannot receive holy communion and at the same time act or speak against the commandments, in particular when abortions, euthanasia, or other serious crimes against life and family are facilitated. This responsibility applies particularly to legislators, governors and health professionals."
In 2010, he wrote to all the priests in Latin America regarding the political attempts to legalize same-sex marriage: "Let's not be naive, we're not talking about a simple political battle; it is a destructive pretension against the plan of God. We are not talking about a mere bill, but rather a machination of the Father of Lies that seeks to confuse and deceive the children of God."

The Trek To Tyranny
When a Christian man recently told me he had not voted for President Obama, but he did appreciate the fact that he is doing so much to help so many in these hard times, I remembered a statement made by Joseph B.H. McMillan:
V.I. Lenin described unthinking supporters of his dictatorship as "useful idiots."
It has been said, "The evils of tyranny are rarely seen but by him who resists it."
Unthinking people are enabling this administration to build a power base that undermines the very foundations of our freedom.
When Hitler was building up his NAZI movement of the 1920's leading to his taking power in the 1930's, he deliberately sought to activate the less informed and the very young.
They were useful.
Today, in the name of fairness and equality, and even compassion, the President is building, not a temple of freedom, but a cultural prison governed by the tyranny of rights.
And Jim Wallis and his religious left are assisting in the trek to tyranny with their "social justice" movement.
The President is building a fiscal prison and a cultural prison. One that will not only enslave this generation, but generations to come.
"Our current obsession with rights is delusional, and a direct threat to freedom. We do not build a temple of freedom by stacking one 'right' on top another like bricks; instead we build ourselves a prison, a prison governed by a tyranny of rights."

Liberty--"We Don't Have Them No More"
The other day I stopped by the Post Office and asked for some Forever Liberty stamps.
The postal clerk replied, and I quote, "We don't have them no more."
Which started me thinking.
Four hundred years ago the conflict between tyranny and liberty blazed brightly. The kings of England were faced with something they had not faced before.
People had begun to read the Bible and were being impacted by the Truth.
The Bible had previously been written in Latin. For a thousand years people had been told what it said, but had not personally read what it said. Then came the Geneva Bible and later the King James version.
As the people read the Bible, they began to discover the eternal principles of civil and religious liberty.
Following the death of King James, Charles I ascended the throne and history tells us he ruled "with the arrogance of a Roman emperor."
He declared marshal law, arbitrarily suspended the rights of the individual, took away the right of Parliament to set tax rates, imprisoned people without cause or trial and consistently violated the Magna Carta---the English charter of liberty.
His armed agents were sent throughout England, demanding outrageous taxes that gutted the estates of the wealthy, and if they refused to cooperate or to pay, they were taken to the dungeons of London where the king's men tortured them until they could discover the true value of their assets.
Charles I violently persecuted all those who disagreed with his unbiblical beliefs. His "truth."
Often in public he would cut off the ears and slit the nostrils of liberty loving preachers and writers who held different views than his---would impose fines they could never repay, and they would remain in a rat infested dungeon the rest of their lives.
However, there was a turning point.

Brennan's Swearing In: No Bible. No Bill Of Rights
Senator Rand Paul's 13-hour filibuster last week was an attempt to force nominee for CIA Director, John Brennan, and the administration to come clean regarding their intentions to kill Americans on American soil with drone planes.
After 13 hours of public duress and sometimes humiliation, the White House finally blinked and responded to what seemed to most Americans, myself included, a rather simple, easy to answer question.
Just before the vote on nominee Brennan, Attorney General Holder sent a terse letter to Senator Rand Paul which read, "It has come to my attention that you have now asked an additional question: 'Does the President have the authority to use a weaponized drone to kill an American not engaged in combat on American soil?' The answer is no."
Paul then said publicly, "We're proud to announce that the president is not going to kill unarmed Americans on American soil."
Rand Paul got what he wanted, and the Senate voted to confirm Brennan 63-34.
But did the American people get what we want---or deserve?

Jesus Christ Banned From Longview City Council Meetings
Mayor Don Jensen has announced that ministers should now refrain from invoking Jesus Christ in invocations at Longview, Washington city council meetings.
Christian ministers have been opening the Longview City Council meetings with an invocation since the late 1950's.
This has been a city tradition since its founding. City founder, R.A. Long, delivered the invocation at the first city council meeting in 1924. In the late 1950's, the invocation became a regular part of the meetings.
Mayor Jensen told the public, "It's not my choice to stop this."
Pastor Mark Schmutz of Northlake Baptist Church and president of the local ministerial association expressed sadness and disappointment over the decision.
He said if the pastors can't speak the name of Jesus Christ, association ministers will no longer provide the invocation.
"They're asking us not to do what we're called to do," he said.
He explained that he and the pastors believe "there are other spiritual entities---such as demons and other gods cited in the Bible---the minister's prayers are specific about whom they call upon."
So what brought about this change?
Be sure to catch our new "Straight Talk" radio program. The initial response is terrific. You can listen live on the ACN network stations, streamed live from your computer, or through a free app on your phone.

NARAL: Making History And Cursing The Future
NARAL is asking their supporters to help them make history, but in doing so, they are cursing the future.
NARAL Pro-Choice Washington put out the following email this week to thousands of people across the state. Informing and raising money.
The Washington State Senate has scheduled a public hearing on the Reproductive Parity Act (RPA) SB 5798 and EHB 1044 for April 1, at 10 AM.
The House of Representatives has passed it 53 to 43.
The time could change. We will keep you posted.
The RPA essentially forces all insurance policies that cover birth expenses, to also cover abortion expenses.

DOJ: Children Do Not Need, Nor Have A Right To Mothers
As stunning as it sounds, the President of the United States and his administration is arguing to the Supreme Court that children do not need mothers.
President Obama, as I have reported earlier, has inserted himself into the California Proposition 8 matter that is soon to come before the Supreme Court.
Although the President had said he would not involve himself because it is a state issue, he evidently "evolved" and is fully immersed, and with the full force of the United States government, is asking the Court to strike down the will of the people and the Prop. 8 that they passed.
Those that support Prop. 8 and natural, traditional marriage, have argued that the traditional family led by a female mother and a male father is the ideal model, determined by nature itself, and is the best model for raising a child.
The Obama administration says that is not true.
They are contending that kids don't need a mother, nor do they have a legal "right" to a mother---having 2 fathers or 2 mothers is just as good as having one of each.

Virginia Pastor Jailed For His Beliefs
Writing from jail, Pastor Kenneth Miller, a Mennonite pastor says, "If it is true that my actions flow out of my faith in Jesus and from my deeply held moral beliefs---and I sincerely think they do---then it must follow that whatever judgement is being brought against me by the United States of America, is judgement on my faith and conscience and deeply held moral beliefs."
So what did he do?
He says, "I was faced with a women in distress who needed help to protect her daughter from what seemed to be an inhumane court decree."
Here's her story.

Abortion Is A Wish-Granting Genie?
Abortion activists must be in a panic. It is true they are losing support from the younger generation. It is also true they are making some unbelievable statements.
Americans, particularly the younger generation, is coming to realize it is, in deed, a baby in the womb---not the "fetal mass" Planned Parenthood and NARAL has described to a less informed generation past.
This generation has seen the ultrasound pictures. And so, now, have their parents.
Planned Parenthood and their maternal twin NARAL have abandoned their euphemism of "pro-choice" because they say, "Abortion is too nuanced of an issue to be called anything at all."
They have now launched a re-branding campaign focused on a more relativistic approach, featuring the trauma and emotion a woman experiences when she makes the decision to have an abortion. It's titled, "Not In Her Shoes." The ads are presently running on television.
As the previous president left NARAL recently, she expressed concern that the abortion industry was loosing support among this generation.
It's the comments of the new president and Hillary Clinton that are raising eyebrows.
Some of their statements are so incredulous and odd, they could, in fact, become an answer to the prayer.
Since Roe v. Wade, America has aborted over 55 million babies. You have likely seen the "Debt Clock," well, I have linked the "Abortion Clock" which shows the number of abortions in the country and world since Roe v. Wade. It also gives other numbers relating to abortion--- in real time. It is chilling.
But first, Hollywood got it right this time.
The first episode of "The Bible" series aired last night on the History Channel.
Super star producer Mark Burnett (Survivor, The Voice, Celebrity Apprentice, Shark Tank, etc.) and his wife Roma Downey (Touched by an Angel) have completed a several year project and have created a certain classic.
The Burnetts were faithful to the text and spirit of the text, yet delivered the message in a contemporary way that is emotional, compelling and spiritually moving.
"The Bible" will not only relate to Christians, but to anyone who watches it. The series will air each Sunday evening on the History Channel through Easter Sunday.
Hooray for Hollywood. They nailed it this time.

Faith And Freedom--Inseparable In Our Democracy
"Democracy and socialism have nothing in common except one word."
John Q. Adams, our 5th President, recognized the indissoluble bond between the principles of Christianity and the principles of American government.
He wasn't the only one to notice.
Alexis de Tocqueville, a French historian also noticed when he toured America about 50 years after our Constitution was drafted and adopted.
In his classic book "Democracy in America" he noted, "The Americans combine the notions of religion and liberty so intimately in their minds, that it is impossible to make them conceive of one without the other."
Faith and Freedom.
We were a nation bursting with energy and strength---fueled by faith---faith in God, in ourselves, and in our country's exceptionalism.
We held a faith in God who was recognized by our Founders to have played a divine role in our founding.
De Tocqueville took these discoveries home to France. He shared them. They chose a very different path.
They chose, rather, to pursue the path of "Equality of Conditions."
De Toqueville was not a religious person, but he observed: "It is religion that gave birth to the Anglo-American societies: one must never forget this. In the United States religion is therefore intermingled with all the national habits and all sentiments to which this country gives birth."
De Tocqueville felt there were only 2 things that could erode the strength of America.
And it comes down to a single word shared by democracy and socialism.
