Should it matter that US embassies and consulates worldwide are now displaying the flag of Black Lives Matter (BLM) ---an organization founded by people who are self-avowed "trained Marxists?"
A leaked cable message shows that our State Department both supports flying the BLM flag and has directed US offices around the world to do so.
A group of elected officials have had enough of the insanity and are now proposing a bill that will prohibit "politically motivated flags and banners" from being flown on US embassies and consulates worldwide.
Be informed, not misled.
The message to employees of the United States.
The leaked cable message shows the US State Department authorizing the BLM flag's display at all "Diplomatic and Consular posts."
Human Events got hold of the memo and published it.
The cable says:
"The Department supports the use of the term 'Black Lives Matter' in messaging content, speeches, and other diplomatic engagements with foreign audiences to advance racial equity and access to justice on May 25. We encourage posts to focus on the need to eliminate systemic racism and its continued impact."
It continues:
"This cable constitutes a blanket written authorization for calendar year 2021... to display the BLM flag on the external-facing flag pole to any Chiefs of Mission, who determine such a display is appropriate in light of local conditions."
The message to the world.
Nations, particularly developing nations around the world, are heeding the call.
Why wouldn't they? Most of them get substantial amounts of money from the US every year.
- Greece is eager to comply by displaying a BLM flag at both the US Consulate in Thessaloniki and at the US Embassy in Athens.
- The US Embassy in Athens draped the BLM flag across the front of the building so that it completely covered the embassy's official seal.
- The US Embassies in Sarajevo---the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the formerly communist Balkins---heeded the call by the US State Department and unfurled a large BLM flag over the front of its building covering the building's official seal.
- The US Embassy in Madrid hung a large BLM flag from the building's roof so that it can as prominent as possible.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken shared a video last Wednesday in which he echoed sentiments expressed in the leaked flag memo.
He said,
"For the United State to be a credible force for human rights around the world, we have to face the realities of racism and hatred here at home. We can't sweep our shortcomings under the rug or pretend they don't exist. We need to face them openly and honestly. Even if that's painful."
All this is coming after the US State Department has also authorized raising the LGBTQ flag on the same pole as the US national flag during the month of June, which is considered "Pride Month" by the LGBTQ community.
Republicans awaken--Introduce the Stars and Stripes Act of 2021, last Friday.
On Friday Republicans Nicole Malliotakis (NY), Ken Buck (CO), Michael Guest (MS), Darrell Issa (CA), Brian Mast (FL), and Pete Sessions (TX), as well as the new House GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (NY), introduced the "Stars and Stripes Act of 2021" last Friday
The bill directs the Sec. of State to restrict the display of certain flags or banners at diplomatic and consular posts around the world.
This group of Representatives also put out a press release Friday.
In part, the release said,
"It is inappropriate for President Biden and Secretary Blinken to authorize and encourage the display of inherently political flags that are in no way affiliated with the US Government over American embassies overseas."
Continuing, they said:
"The American flag is a beacon of freedom and hope for oppressed peoples around the world; it should be the primary flag flown above our embassies and that is what [this] legislation seeks to accomplish. The Administration's directive is an insult to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our flag and our nation--especially as we head into Memorial Day weekend---it is absolutely ridiculous that the legislation is needed to correct this issue."
Chair Elise Stefanik said, "I am proud to co-sponsor this legislation."
Congressman Issa said,
"The White House may think the American flag is just another banner to be displayed or replaced in foreign capitals when the mood strikes...But this is more than untrue. It's an emphatic misunderstanding of what this nation represents in every corner of the globe. And if it fails to appreciate how our country's symbols have sustained the hopes of the world, in the darkest hours. This legislation may be necessary, but even more important is for the Biden Administration to take stock of America's exceptionalism."
I'll be taking more about American exceptionalism on our radio program that originates live at 9 AM (PST) on American Christian Network stations.
It is also heard on a growing number of stations at a slightly delayed time each day, Monday-Friday.
Here are the stations on which we are currently heard and the air times. You may also listen online on your computer or an app on your phone.
