Oxford Dictionary: Official Word of The Year 2016 Is "Post-Truth"

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

Oxford Dictionaries has selected "post-truth" as 2016's international word of the year.

The Washington Post immediately published an article following the announcement by Oxford, saying, "It's official: Truth is dead. Facts are passe."

They "prove" their point by reviewing the 2016 presidential election.

First, we're told "God is dead," now we're told, "Truth is dead."

And a group of satirical "Progressive Left evangelical Christian theologians" are leading Christians into the "post-truth" era to make their point.

Welcome to the new age of "no reality"--"no truth." No problem?

Whitworth Has Ties To Planned Parenthood--Students Unhappy

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

James Silberman, a student at Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington and vice president of the "Students for Life" organization on campus, has contacted me regarding the relationship between Whitworth and Planned Parenthood.

His email to our office said this: "I am a student at Whitworth University in Spokane, WA. I recently discovered that the school had a 'community partnership' with Planned Parenthood. I wrote an article about the inappropriateness of such a partnership on the part of a private, Christian university in the campus publication. I thought you might be interested in covering the story."

Well, we are interested in covering the story.

Heads up students, parents and grandparents. And all Christians who support Christian education.

But apparently, Hillary and her crew believe there is some chance of reviving her political ambitions, even though it entails breaking a private deal made between Hillary and Trump regarding the outcome of the election.

The Spirit of Thanksgiving

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

President Ronald Reagan had this to say about Thanksgiving;

"In this spirit, Thanksgiving has become a day when Americans extend a helping hand to the less fortunate. Long before there was a government welfare program, this spirit of voluntary giving was ingrained in the American character. Americans have always understood that, truly, one must give in order to receive. This should be a day of giving as well as a day of thanks."

Stephanie Wilson, committed Christian, Seattle native, author, former network affiliate TV news journalist and producer, wrote an article on her 31Daily.com website this morning.

It captures that "spirit" Reagan spoke about.

Billy Graham: Giving Thanks In Everything

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

Thanksgiving Day is recognized by most Americans, and most Americans (63%) give thanks to God for the various blessings in their lives.

But Billy Graham reminds us we are to give thanks in "everything"---even those things that don't appear to be a blessing---or "good."

Dr. Graham asks, "Are you thankful for everything, no matter what?

Americans Are Thankful--Most Credit God

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
When Americans count their blessings at Thanksgiving this week, God will get most of the credit, with money the last thing on their minds---at least this week.

A new survey finds that "The blessings that matter most are the ones money can't buy," and "people's responses to Thanksgiving seem to be shaped in part by demographics."

The list of blessings most Americans are thankful for is revealing, but not surprising.

It's encouraging.

Vice President-elect Mike Pence was booed Friday night at a performance of the Broadway hit “Hamilton.”

Pence, along with some of his family members, were being seated in the Richard Rodgers Theater when a few scattered claps turned into a thundering chorus of boos.

According to the New York Post, "The crowd continued to mock Pence throughout the performance."

After the curtain call, the cast directly addressed Vice President-elect Pence."

Yesterday morning before Trump and Pence went to church together, Trump responded to the cast of 'Hamilton."

Yesterday afternoon, Mike Pence responded to the cast.

Now it's Avakian who has a problem.

And.

Sanctuary Cities: Sanctuary From What?

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

Seattle Mayor Ed Murray told the Seattle Times Monday, that he intends to stand firm with other major US cities in maintaining Seattle's status as a "Sanctuary City."

"Seattle has always been a welcoming city. The last thing I want for us is to start turning on our neighbors," he said.

However, Mayor Murray is rather selective in which neighbors he is "concerned" about turning on.

What do sanctuary cities actually provide sanctuary from?

Obama To US And World: "We Must Guard Against ...Nationalism"

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

At a press conference in Greece yesterday, soon to be "former" President Obama did what he generally does, he scolded America, warning we should not become "too America first," but rather put our hearts and minds toward global unity.

"The future of the world is going to be defined by what we have in common," he said, "[not] those things that separate us and ultimately lead us into conflict."

Ironically, by most all accounts, America is more divided and conflicted today than it was 8 years ago when he took office.

Nationwide Shut Down On Inauguration Day: "Let It Begin In Seattle"

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

KIRO TV 7 reports that Kshama Sawant, a self-avowed Marxist member of the Seattle City Council who is part of the George Soros-funded Occupy Wall Street movement, has called for a “massive protest” against President-elect Donald Trump and a “nationwide shut down” on Inauguration Day.
All Trump voters, she says, have "a racist agenda." That would include 81% of all evangelicals.

Sawant held a press conference calling for a mass protest in Seattle. That protest was attended by students, members of Seattle’s LGBTQ community, as well as Occupy members and Muslims.

Calling up the old principles of the failed Marxist Revolution, Sawant is building her coalition, hoping to shut down the country.

UPDATE : The case against Barronelle Stutzman, the Richland, Washington florist, is being heard today by the State Supreme Court.

11/9--Post Election Trauma Syndrome (P.E.T.S.)

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

I got an email Saturday from a pastor friend of mine. It had one sentence which simply said, "Hey Gary--2 dates will remain in the collective memory of America---9/11 and 11/9."

Colleges are trying to deal with the mass trauma of 11/9---America's election--- by bringing in special counselors, sponsoring "cry-ins" and safe spaces, postponing final and mid-term tests and even bringing in pets to be with students in these various kinds of "safe spaces" on campus.

University of Washington President encouraged students to attend a "healing" gathering in the campus "unity room."

Tens of thousands are rioting in cities across America, while the media spent yesterday reporting about themselves, saying this was one of the most traumatic elections for journalists in history. Even they---experienced journalists--- are dealing with Post Election Trauma Syndrome.

I haven't seen anyone else use the acronym, but I think we are in the midst of defining a new disorder, for which thousands of dollars will be spent to study and then to treat it.

Let's call it P.E.T.S.

Veteran's Day--The Silence Of The Cemetery

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

Thank you to all veterans and their families for your service and sacrifice.

Today, millions of Americans will visit our national cemeteries to honor those who have served---many of whom gave their life for their country.

The voices of families and friends will be heard across the grassy knolls of cemeteries, big and small--- reminiscing and remembering and honoring.

But those honored will lie silently.

If they could break the silence of the cemetery and speak, what might they say?

America Exhales...Christians Thank God

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

At 2:46 AM this morning in New York City, Hillary Clinton called Donald Trump, conceding he had won the presidential election.

Moments earlier, John Podesta, Clinton's campaign chair, had told those waiting for a comment from Hillary to go ahead--go home and get some sleep, "while we continue the counting of votes, because every vote counts."

"We'll have more to say tomorrow," he promised Hillary's supporters.

Vice President-elect Mike Pence, with a tear on his cheek, walked on stage at the Trump event and said, "This is an historic moment---I am grateful to God for His amazing grace."

Mr. Pence then introduced a humble and grateful President-elect Donald Trump.

His comments stunned even his harshest critics.

A Time To Speak

It is written, "To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven;...A time to keep silence, and a time to speak."

The purpose in America today is "a time to speak"...a time for the American people to vote on the future of America---while the world watches and America hangs in the balance.

Some will celebrate this day---some will grieve this day.

But all must participate.

Hillary Skates---Trump Asks For Prayer

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

In the face of an avalanche of corruption, lies and misleading words and actions on the part of Hillary, the FBI cleared her again yesterday, saying they have not changed their original conclusion---no criminal charges should be made against her.

An emboldened Hillary explained to a large Philadelphia congregation yesterday how our Founding Fathers got it wrong---and how she will "fix it."

Recently Trump was asked how he specifically wants people to pray for him. His answer is revealing---you've not seen it in the mainstream press.

All this while America holds its collective breath. And conservative Christians pray.

Obama: "World Is Teetering...Fate Of Republic Rests On Your Shoulders"

In a voice and cadence that sounded, at times, like a prophet, President Obama told the people of North Carolina this week, "I hate to put a little pressure on you, but the fate of the Republic rests on your shoulders. The fate of the world is teetering."

In response, someone designed a TIME Magazine cover with the image of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton standing together, with the bold headline: "The End Is Near."

The message is well taken---but, of course, it means different things to different people.

Conservative Supreme Court--"A False Hope?"

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

Dr. Benjamin L. Corey, a widely read columnist and blogger who identifies himself as a "committed Christian," has written an article titled, "The Christian Right's False Hope in a Conservative SCOTUS."

He notes that Republican---not Democratic appointees to the Supreme Court of the United States, have given us Roe v Wade and same-sex "marriage."

He says Franklin Graham is wrong and misleading. Voting on the basis of SCOTUS appointments is a "false hope."

Is this a matter of "false hope" on the part of conservatives or a "false assumption" on the part of Corey and his thousands of so-called religious progressive Left followers?

The magazine has recently become embroiled in a back and forth with LGBTQ activists, and "Highlights" is leaning downward.

It started when "Kristina" wrote to the magazine's editors asking that "families with homosexual partners be depicted positively and regularly."

Popular Christian Author, Speaker and HGTV Star Changes Biblical Beliefs

Bestselling author, speaker, Bible study leader and HGTV star Jen Hatmaker says she has changed her mind and put aside the conservative childhood biblical teachings of her parents and church.

LifeWay Christian stores---all 185 of them nationally and their international web site---has taken down all of her books, teaching materials and other resources.

LifeWay will likely be labeled both racist and bigoted by some, but they have made the right decision.

Some of you know that I know a bit about the Christian retail business. I applaud them for taking a stand---refusing to cave to cultural pressures.

I hope you will applaud them as well.

Here's the story.
